If you are new to running, a lapsed runner or a regular recreational runner looking for motivation and support we have options just for you.
We will send you home from class feeling energised, motivated and looking forward to the next one.
Come join us in Sandymount or Clontarf in Dublin. You can decide to attend class once or twice each week over the 7 week term.
“A very special running group, great atmosphere, supportive teachers, sociable & fun. Running and training outdoors on the beach all year in all weathers is an amazing experience - 10 stars!”
Helping you start running (or return from a long break) in a safe, gradual and motivating way. We build each week with run/walk breaks taking you from 1 minute runs to a 30 minute run by end of term.
Is it for me?
If you want to be a runner but never seem to be able to do it alone, this is for you. Or if you are returning after a long break and want to build back sensibly.
Helping you to get out the door, feel stronger and better running. In 1 hour we will combine running (at your pace) with all complementary stuff we know you don’t do at home! Strength, mobility, breathwork and lovely stretching.
Is it for me?
If you can run a minimum of 10-15 minutes VERY slowly you will be fine in this class. You can walk/run as you need to as you build back up your fitness.
Strength & Speed
Helping you to get faster, stronger and avoid injury. In 1 hour we will combine speed intervals (different each week) with strength, technique, mobility and breathwork and some fun of course while on the move.
Is it for me?
If you are running 5k (or longer) comfortable and regularly and want to get stronger and faster this is for you
“Run by the ever-positive inspirational legend that is Mary Jennings together with her fabulous motivating coaches - Forget The Gym is a very special group. Over many years I've seen how it just attracts great, really nice people all ready to encourage each other , enjoy the chats & the craic. Years after joining the gang I still love my running and I'm still learning loads.”
Mary and Aoife will support and guide you all the way through the term
Mary founded ForgetTheGym 15 years ago when she left her ‘proper job’ to follow her passion for moving outdoors. A relative late comer to fitness, Mary understands what it’s like not to feel ‘sporty’ and loves building confidence in new runners and helping people reach their running goals.
Mary is the author of the book ‘Get Running’ published in 2019 by Gill Books. She is a regular columnist with The Irish Times and a frequent voice on radio, television and print. She has plenty practise on the roads herself having completed over 45 marathons and ultramarathons. As well as working with individual and groups, Mary has presented at many wellness events and coaches corporate groups.
Just like Mary, Aoife discovered running as an adult and has seen it transform not only her appearance but also her lifestyle. From being a self-confessed overweight and unfit couch potato, things changed in 2009 when she built up slowly from walking to running 10k and hasn’t looked back. She truly caught the running bug, qualified as a personal trainer in 2011 and has since replaced the 9-5 office job with running shoes.
From parkruns to marathons, Aoife has seen running change her body and her mindset and today coaches our runners who need support, motivation and a gentle nudge in the right direction.
If you want to keep moving this autumn but find motivation to get out the door a challenge, we are just what you need.
We encourage and support you to enjoy running, complementing your running with strength, mobility and breathwork to make you feel better running and avoid injury.
Whether your goals are to get stronger over 5k, aim to run long distance or indeed just get out the door and make some time for yourself, we will support you all the way.
